68 vs 69 door latch assembly.
Can any 68 experts tell me if I can use 69-77 door latch assemblies in my 68 coupe? It needs to work correct not be factory correct.
Thanks for any help.

Google the 68 part number and see if it cross references to other model years. I cannot recall that the 68 part was one year only, but stranger things have happened.

The 68 door opens by pushing in the door lock button, it hits a tab on the latch to open the door. The 69's and up use the paddle on the top of the door to connect to the latch for door opening.
I do believe the 68 door latches are another one year only part.

Just one more of those 68 only parts. If you want to be able to open the door, from outside of the car, you need to use a 68 door latch mechanism.
