Default Mystery Part For 68 Roadster ???

I am working on 1968 roadster for a frame off restoration and ran across something today that has me scratching my head. Under the rear fender area I have found a couple of brackets that have no real purpose that I can find. They were attached with five rivets and have a nut welded in the center. The threads for the nuts were protected by a plastic plug from the inside of the car and it looks original. I wonder if they could possibly be factory lifting points if bolts were attached from the inside. Photos attached so have a look and enlighten me.

Why would a shoulder harness be bolted only to fiberglass? Was that an option for 68. These threads never had anything attached due to a factory plug inserted inside.
Thanks,
Norm

with oldboat. For the coupes they were standard, optional for the convertibles.

All of the bodies were made with this provision for the shoulder belt. If yours was plugged, than the original owner did not get that option. They were standard on all 68 coupes. Lou.
