Default Need picture of vin # stamp

If you have a big block 1968 car, would you be kind enough to send me a picture of the vin # and engine # on the right front of the block. I'm not sure if mine is correct and would like to compare with a correct one. Please feel free to block out some of the vin numbers with a piece of tape iv you would rather not post your number. I just need to see the placing on the pad. My "corvette by the numbers" book doesn't show this for a 68.

Thank you very much

Hi gb,
I'm sure some folks will post pictures of their bb pads.
I caution you though to be careful about making a judgment on your pad and stamps based on comparison to just a few pads.
There were many odd variations in pads and stamps and it often takes a person VERY EXPERIENCED eye to make a determination whether a pad is authentic and the way it was when it left St.Louis.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Thank you very much Mike:

My 68 rear casting date shows Dec. 13 1967, my engine stamp is Dec. 20, but my paint tag is Jan 3 1968. I guess I am just scratching my head as to why there are so many days between my engine stamp of Dec. 20, to my paint tag of Jan. 3.
I'm not sure if that sounds correct and am just checking with some other members to get an idea. It just sounds that's too much time.
I certainly don't intend to offend anyone, so if you would prefer not to respond, or if my questioning is inappropriate, I am sorry.
I would take pictures, but I have yet to figure out the process without my son's assistance. (He's smart and I am anything but)
Thanks again for your response.

The date spread you've quoted sounds perfectly normal and typical.

Hi gb,
Your casting/assembly/build dates seems pretty typical, maybe even ideal.
The block in my sb 71 was cast on December 31st, 1970.
The engine was assembled on January 7th, 1971. (In Flint)
The car's Trim Tag is dated January 14th, 1971. (In St.Louis)
Dated parts on the car range from late August 1970, (Intake manifold), to just several days, (Interior soft parts), before the car was built.
Regards,
Alan

Many thanks to all

As soon as I can get a picture, I will post it.
I really appreciate your information, it makes me feel a little better about this car.
