Don't sweat the last 3/4 of a year Tony, nothing you can do to change that. The important thing is you're now moving forward, dwelling wont help but will only cause you to move backwards... Keep up the good work!

I'm glad to see that you're feeling well enough to start working on the '68 again, DG. You are an inspiration to the rest of us on this forum. Your show of strength in the face of adversity is a lesson for us all. Keep at it when you can and remember that the rest of us are all pulling for you.

They'll let me know in a week or so!
About the project: Bad News first..... Naturally it starts raining when I start fiberglassing.
Good news is......I can finish "spot" welding the fuel tank and pressure-test it for leaks!

I put more time in the fuel tank "spot-welding" the pinholes that I found a few months ago.......I even put a coat of paint on it to keep it from turning red with oxide........................
I'll use a fitting on the sending unit to pressurize the tank for leak-checking (again)................
I couldn't save the sheet steel once I cut the end off because of numerous pinholes. I'll buy another piece of steel and weld it in place/then pressurize the tank to 5psi.............
I'll add the filler tube/the vent tube fitting/the return line fitting/the fuel line fitting once the tank is installed (to make sure everything is in the correct place................

have you decided where the filler will be located on the car? Behind the rear plate or behind a rear tail light?

BUT it will go behind a tail light if it sits too high in the frame.
Maybe someone sells a street version adapter/filler that can be placed/mounted on the tank where it is easily accessed....and fuel will not leak when taking off from a stop.
I also had a plan to use the original fuel lid on the deck by connecting a form-fitted tube to the tank by drilling a Thru-hole in the new rear cargo wall.....the filler neck would fit snugly against the underside of the deck with a L-shaped rubber hose connecting it to the tank inlet adapter..............
There ya' go!

My wife and I took a short trip this weekend to rest up from taking care of her invalid mother.
Back to the Corvette tomorrow.....I need to pick up a piece of flat steel to enclose the sending unit-end of the tank.....
then pressure-test!

Tony - So good to see how far you got on your project this week! Man, I am so thankful! I went to TN to work on the house to get it ready for son and daughter in love to move into after wedding in Jan. Went to change out the jet pump for a submersible. To my surprise when I moved the wellhouse top I found everything had been stolen! Only thing left was the well casing and line to the house. Even stole the electrical lines. So my Vette parts budget got a kick in the pants to replace all that was stolen. Got cold water in the house, gotta go back next month and finish up the water and get the cabinets in place. So looks like you are gonna get way ahead on me! Glad to know that! Have a good one bro and keep it up!
