Getting ready for paint. Gray or Silver Pictures
The next phase of the restro is starting soon. Ordered a truflex front and rear bumper covers. Going with more of the pace car styling with fender flares in front and 80's style rear spoiler. Still deciding on color with the red interior. Leaning towards a gunmetal gray. Lets see pictures of the gray and silver combo's. Planning on doing most of the prep, disassembly then off the body shop to paint.

Donnie,
I'm in the same boat...ready for paint and going with a silver/gray... My .02, with red interior I'd stay away from a tinted silver. I'd consider:
Toyota Classic Bright Silver (1F7) (very bright, small metallic size/almost looks like polished metal)
Honda Alabaster Silver Metallic (NH700MB)
VW Reflex Silver Metallic (LA7w), very brilliant
Ford Ignot Silver Metallic (M7226)
Mercedes Silver Metallic (1950s Gullwing) (DB-180)
In addition GM offered Quicksilver, Sebring Silver and Blade Silver which are all nice and bright. To me, they all look very similar, light, bright, true silvers...
I've got a '68 vert with black top, black interior, polished wheels, polished sidepipes and of course the bumpers, so I'm looking for a bit more contrast. I'm leaning towards Toyota Silver Sky Metallic (1D6) which, to me just starts to turn the corner from light silver to metallic gray, but it has a lavender hue. It's very similar in appearance to the new Skyfall Silver from Aston Martin. Another one I'm considering is GM Blade Silver Metallic (WA944L), which is a shade darker than 'light', but with great metallic properties...check out how much different this looks on a C-5 vs C-6 vette and tell me what you think...?
For grays, I think my favorite is Billet Silver Metallic...looks amazing in the sun, but it is definitely not a light color...it looks great in person, but it doesn't seem to photograph well.
Hope this helps...
Rob

I forgot to add, that the Billet Silver I mentioned above is a Dodge/Jeep color used on '11-14 challengers/chargers '13 and on Jeeps Grand Cherokees and the '14 Viper... the factory codes vary a bit, but PPG code is 930559 according to Paint Ref...
Mike, I've had pics of your '74 for a while and was wondering if it appears more pearl or metallic in person...? Also, how does the Silver Mist compare to the Quicksilver?
Roger, the silver name in '76 was just 'Silver' right? Is that BC/CC?
Any while I'm here...has anyone seen the '68 Silverstone in BC/CC? I have not, and I'm a little timid to go that route after all this work for something I may not like...?
Thanks,
Rob

You guys are supposed to be making this easier...great looking cars! Thanks for the responses and posted pics...
Donnie, MSG (Medium Spiral Gray) was used on the '03 Vettes and several other GM lines from '03-07 according to Paint Ref. It's GM code WA812K or PPG code 5945 (again, according to Paint Ref).
It's always amazing how the shape and lines along with the accutraments of a given car can vary so much, even with the same paint. I think the personality that it's supposed to have play a large part as well.

2020 C3 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Bt thing to do is keep an eye out for vehicles you see on the road and see what you like best. Seeing in person and different shades of light will help out a lot. Look at mine for example, a darker silver in sunlight and take away a little sunlight and it's back to grey again. There are a lot of silvers and greys out there so have fun.
The grey on the C6 vette it's really nice and a darker than the C5's MSG. I think it's called cyber grey metallic.there was another color I was looking at but has more of a blue to it, came on the C4 crazy corvettes.....steel blue metallic.
