Default I want to put a LS1 engine in a 82 CE

I bought a LS1 to put in the 82CE that I bought. I figured why spend money on getting that boat anchor to have power when I can put a good engine in it. Im even considering building it as a turbo engine and putting twin turbos on it. Can anyone direct me to articles telling me what I will have to do to make this work or places where I can buy parts to do this swap. I do not have the experience to do this but I do have a friend that does and he will help me do it for a fee of course. Will the tranny from a doner Camaro even fit this car?

FWIW: sell the CE to someone who wants an 82 CE. Buy a beater for your LS-turbo project.

I don't want a beater. I want a CE but with power. That misfire fuel injection was the worst mistake gm ever made

Check out the LS swap sticky in Tech & Perf.
Someone (Rebelrob) has already done a LS powered CE.

BTW an 82 is the easiest starting point as it came with a 700R4 (which is identical to a 4L60E). It also has a FI friendly fuel tank!

If thats what you want to biuld, then build it. I say built it, so it is the best 82 CE out there. Do a search on LS builds, there are many out there with a lot of good information.

I put a LS in my 78. Love the power. Here is turbo set up. Be prepared to mod the engine bay to make things fit. http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...rbo-build.html

You should donate that misfire trash to someone unfortunate enough to like it..... Dibs. Build it any way you want, there are plenty of 82 CEs out there.

You can put a LS engine in any C3. Twin turbos are much more problematic. How much horsepower are you looking for? It's easy to get 500+ out of a naturally aspirated LS engine.

I'd say do the LS swap first, do some basic power mods and see if it makes you happy. I'd be surprised if it couldn't do all you are expecting the turbo setup to do.
Only then if you decide you need power that a NA setup can't give you start looking at turbos.

It is a major undertaking doing a TT setup on any car, let alone one with this tight of an engine bay. Just 2 cents.

Got a budget for this build? HP cost $$ but you can learn a lot from some who have been down this road. Search around the LS forum if you want horsepower. Lots of LS engines that get over 600 hp with out turbo's. Cam and heads can make big power in these. Are you staying with the current tranny? Is it street/ pleasure or track?

Doing a snails pace project along the same lines with my '82. Actually enjoyed the TBI compared to the carb setups but I'm weird like that.

You guys are downright nasty with comments about the CFI
So what really is wrong with it????
Mine runs great and keeps up with anything out there, top end is unreal.
Triple digits is not a problem at all, when in a safe environment
As far as being a boat anchor....are you kidding me??????
Off the line I can smoke them all, they don't even know what passed them They see my back end and plate everytime
And you want to put a what???(LS) what in your CE?????
Are you ????

All kidding aside, be sure to post plenty of pics, should be interesting to say the least......
And if you don't want any of the CFI parts, there are 82 owners here who would enjoy having them.....You can never have enough CFI parts, never........
Good luck with your project
I'll still beat you off the line when your finished...... Tom

Hopefully my sarcasm came through. I love my crossfire setup. I'm first in line if he throws it away. :-)

Yeah, still a fan of the CFI, I liked mine while I had it. Ran great... for what it was. Never gave any problems, and returned 20 mpg.
