Default 1979 Headlight **** removal

OK I am stumped! Can anyone tell me how to remove the actual headlight **** from the headlight switch in my 1979 C3?
Thanks, Colin

If its the same as the 77 its joined to the shaft. You have to take them out together by accessing the back of the switch. around the perimeter there is a tab that needs to be pushed in, then the shaft and **** can be pulled out... I'll try to find a photo so you get the idea.. or maybe someone has a better description!!

Actually, I saw a YouTube video about this. There is a small pin you push in to release the ****. It is not obvious by looking at it.

I've had my switch out more than once, and don't remember it being a terrible job to get to the button even installed in the dash.

Can I mail you my switch so you can yank the stem out----I've never had this much trouble doing something so simple!

It should be so easy....After 50 years, I finally ran into a stem that doesn't want to release & I didn't want to destroy my light switch trying to remove the stem for 10 minutes.....

I'll try it again tomorrow.
