Default Headlight switch

I have to replace my headlight switch. Just wondering if I can remove the panel screws and pull the panel back to replace the switch?
Thanks, 68 Vetteman

If the panel won't move far enough to do the repair, you probably will have to disconnect the speedometer cable (maybe the tach cable also) from the housing to get enough clearance-----and use your hands to "help" the dash wiring harness flex a couple inches.

I've done this a couple of times now. Remove the lower steering wheel cover and loosen the two steering column bolts, dropping the column slightly to allow the dash pat to come forward a bit more. Be careful of the wiring harness catching the speedo and tach when you pull forward and especially when you reinstall. The plastic gets very brittle with age!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a January project!

All good! It only takes 30 minutes.
Merry Christmas!
PS Dash pat? Too much Christmas cheer!

The trick... is to not pull on the dash pad too hard.. If you do you'll crack it in the middle...

There is a page on my site that will show you the bolts to remove for the lower column.. but when you remove the column cover you'll see them. You should also remove the jamb screws, the upper screws and the center dash bezel screws that go in the side.....
