Default Weird 1975 corvette with a 1964 rear

This guy says that this was a dealer installed option. I want to know if this is real and if there are others out there. I know there are corvette station wagons so I don't see why this cant be real. Here's the link: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/4314163488.html

Your link doesn't work, but a C2 rear on a C3 was never an option.

Hi vb,
I believe there was a thread about this car a few days ago.
There was a wide range of opinions about what's definitely a owner inspired piece of work.
Regards,
Alan

You're fast Mike!.

You'll rain on his parade if you mention the body work is not a dealer option. Probably best not to try.

Aw Mike, the conversation is half the fun.

At least it seems if he thinks its real he doesnt think it adds a lot to the price.

I doubt in 1975 people were asking dealers to mod their cars to look 10 years older right off the showroom floor

True, but if you rain on his parade in these parts today, things will freeze.

some confusion comes from things like in the 70's people wanted personalized modded vettes, it wasn't uncommon for a new or near new car to get a radical custom job, that one shop in baldwin for example did all kinds of cars mostly rebuilding wrecks because they were cheaper,
So family truckster, wide bodies vettes, etc wouldbe sitting in a dealers show room, but they didnt build them just took them in trade orfor flash value.....

If you are referencing Motion Performance, they did not rebuild wrecks. Their Corvettes, Camaros, and Chevelles were new cars, most ordered through their partner, Baldwin Chevrolet.

Mike what I have heard over the last 35 plus years is that places like Motion and many others did use wrecks to make customs, now this was common in the day,
If the fellow who named motion to me was wrong so be it....he was one of a zillion who claimed to have been there, seen that, worked for the shop etc etc.....but I do believe that motion built some on customer cars and if they did then fixing a wrecked car is not a reach....heck, Silva bragged they did that.
