Green or not to Green
Hi all, I picked up a 72 from my dad and am now working out the resto plan. The car was Elkhart green and at first glance I did not care for the color. However as the engine is numbers matching (have not verified the tranny yet), I am leaning towards going back green. Plus wifey likes the green lol. It's really hard to judge by pictures so hopefully I can see an Elkhart green in person soon.. Any thoughts?
Here are a few pics
Some of the extra parts , stating to go these and see what I have

It's ironic that I'm not a "green Vette" guy but own one. I just happen to find a BB Vette and went with it(Brands Hatch).
That being said, I think the green color firmly plants your car as a 70's car and is a good thing!
One vote here for green, it will grow on you!
Good Luck, Kevin

Hi E,
I agree that the green is a iconic late 60s early 70s color.
I also think it's probably a bit unusual with the black interior which makes it kind of interesting!
Go Green.
Regards,
Alan

Put the original color back on it. When you get the car back to better condition, that color will really look great!

in 1972, code 946 Elkhart green, had 4200 cars painted that color
Second only to Ontario Orange that had 4891 cars painted that color
I think the color is great, but I'm surely biased
I'm sure you will grow to like the color, and in my opinion the value of the car will be more because of having the correct color on it rather than having a different color that the trim tag calls for.

Make it a green machine again! I think the greens are still bada$$. I am sure many an original buyer thought so too. As I was narrowing down cars to buy the green stood out and was one of my few absolute requirements of the cats I would consider ( so I might be biased ).

Awesome looking car Roy! I saw the same stats on the paint colors.
I am sorting thru the spares now so I can start to document my plan..
I have an orange 70 C10 that I am just finishing up
As mentioned wifey likes the green color, yes I know wifey pics are required, this was at cruisin the coast last year in my uncles 58 impala

LoL. As in lots of luck with this one. I see pics of rvazquez car and I love it. I see the color in person and some look good some look more like avocado green. My originally Elkhart green 72 is gonna be black. Or green. Or blue. Not orange though. Maybe red, no probably not. Definitely not yellow or gold or silver. Yes it will be black. I think. Lol.

He even had the same vanity license plate (Mich.) which he still has hanging on a wall somewhere. He regrets to this day not still having that car. I'm going to have to forward this to him.

As an owner of an Elkhart green 73, I can say it is an ugly color.
But it is the color it came with, so I will never change it. And as others have said, it firmly "plants" it in the '70s.
Like moss, it grows on you.

Not to offend, but it doesn't look like it will be a NCRS gold star origional anyway.
I wrasled with this also. Origional Monaco Orange. Not the best color, buy not bad.
I ended up with PPC chery red metellic. I still go back and forth in my mind, but I can truthfully say that when cruising with the other c3's, I get a lot more thumbs up then most.

Elkhart Green gets my vote. I had an Elkhart Green 72 for years, sold it to buy C5 and lived to regret it. Now I have a Bryar Blue 72 but still miss the green one!

No offense taken Sayfoo, this is not a Bloomington gold candidate by any means. However it will be a driver and I would like to stay close to orginal where it makes sense (and dollars lol)

I'm partial to Brands Hatch Green, my car's color. Originally my car was white but whoever restored it pick the '71 color. Goes good with the saddle interior.
