Default Help with ID Rochester carb 7029207

Hi guys,

I have a Rochester carb #7029207, I know it's for a 1969 Vette, 350/350, manual trans.

The date code is: 0870 which I know is the 87th day of 1970.

My question is, is this a service replacement carb, or is it a late production 1969 carb?

I am trying to find out if it is valuable to somone restoring a Vette, or is it worthless? Thank you!

Randy

Looks original, if it's all there and in rebuildable condition, I'd say it's definitely valuable to somebody here.

It can't be a late production 69 carb. 69's finished production in Dec of 69 and production date of your carb is not until Mar 28, 1970. Might have been a warranty replacement or off something else at a later date.

That would be a service replacement. A quick tell tale, if the date does not give it away for you, is the triangular pad to the right of the fuel inlet.

Compare these two carburetors. PRODUCTION 9207 on the right, SERVICE on the left.

FYI that"0" could 1980 or possibly 1990. That 207 was a workhorse replacement for many years

So what would be wrong with a "Service Replacement" Carb? Would it be the resell value because it was not on the car from the factory? In other words, if new or rebuilt would it work just as well as an original on a 350/350 engine? Just trying to learn…

There would be absolutely nothing wrong with it. It is built to the same specs. There are plenty of service replacements as they made these into the 1980s (I do not think they produced any in the '90s).

Original 1969 7029207DA carburetors are harder to come by, and if you are playing the "numbers matching" game. You'll pay a premium for a date-code correct carburetor.

I run a service replacement on my L46 that is rebuilt by Lars. Runs perfectly.

I see the correct date coded, original 1969 7029207DA carburetors selling for $700 and more online. The service replacements are only worth a few bucks. I paid $10 for it at a swap meet, I thought I might have scored, but no such luck. It will work fine for me on my 350, rebuliding it now! Thanks again guys!

Randy,

Crazy right? I wouldn't say selling for $700, but definitely some are listed. This guy's listings always seem to give me a chuckle. Check his other auctions too.

I think you scored for $10 for a good core (assumption) to rebuild. It took me a good bit of searching to find a good core to work with, and I believe I paid $50 or $60.

Enjoy the carb!
