On the doors, there is a clip that holds the cylinder in place. Number 2 in picture B.
To gain access to this clip you should remove the door latch which is number 5 in picture C. Not a fun job.

All General Motors steering columns had a screw retained ignition lock cylinder by 1981.
So make sure you are purchasing a lock cylinder for a GM tilt (or T&T) steering column with the special cross-notch as shown.
