71 front spoiler?
I have a 1971 LT1 all original
Im looking to buy a front spoiler
Many 68-72 have that small thin black spoiler
I realize LT1's did not have this, but I like the look
Anyone have some pics??
Is it a easy install?
Is it ecklers part # A2983?
I want to make sure I am ordering the correct part

68-82 Corvettes are bottom breathers, and require the spoiler, to properly cool the engine.

There is no problem installing a bigger/lower front valence spoiler. The problem will be RETAINING it. If you drive it around at all, there will be many hazards to avoid:
Parking lot concrete bump-stops; speed bumps; chuck holes; driveways that are on an incline/decline; ANYTHING lying in the roadway; etc.; etc...
Any of the above items--and others--will wipe out that pretty, new spoiler in a heartbeat. The stock spoiler is sized appropriately to give adequate air to the radiator and maximum clearance to the road....and it is flexible.
If you go with the "sporty" spoiler......good luck.

Not trying to talk you out of a "much larger one" but...it will get ripped off, I promise. I recently hung my stock spoiler trying to enter a poorly designed driveway entrance at a Walmart...hummm, maybe I could sue Walmart, nah. Seriously, prepare yourself for an on s--- moment that will rate about 9 out of 10 on the 'oh s--- moment' pucker scale. You'll think you've ripped the guts out of your ride. You'll quickly learned to enter/exit steep ramps, etc... at an angle to help clear the obstruction. This also works a wee bit on speed bumps. But bottom line, I'd bet most of the ranch on it coming to a inglorious end. But then again, a lift kit? Congrats on a '71 LT-1, nice ride, love the way that cam sounds.
