They're looking at C3's in fields, behind barns and sitting out there in backyards for a decade on Craigslist and then asking if this is a 'good' buy!

Yup.....lot of truth to that comment ......but it's maddening at the same time......guys will outbid each other for a rusted , rotted out POS sitting in the backyard of a house in BF Egypt for 45 years ....needing everything replaced

But will turn their noses up at a car somebody has poured 20 grand in improvements and is mostly restored and drivable condition .

If it is fixed up by someone other than themselves like it's spoiled now or act like it has couttees or something....they 'd .rather dump 40 grand in a rag and then complain about couldn't find a bargain.

Considered going, but since I'm not buying/selling, HDTV works fine - but haven't watched yet. I'll have to check the C3's out on the Mecum site. Good crowds out there?

Lot T84 - '72 Auto coupe does look decent from the two pictures on the site. $10k? Well, both good and bad I suppose. Good because people with not a lot of means can get into the hobby, bad because the value for others is quickly dropping and no one will want to restore or work on these things. That's why this is a hobby and a passion, not a retirement plan.

Nope - I bought the car that a wonderful guy poured about 20 grand and months worth of manual labor into, that's a FANTASTIC driver, and paid about 1/2 of what it's worth (1969 manual coupe). Course maybe that's because I have the smarts of a gal!

I was actually going to go to the Monterey auction if I hadn't found anything by then, but glad I won't have to get in a bidding war and undergo all that stress!

Just looking at that, right now. Very good looking car! Just a little bit over the typical CL price and it's worth it, if it's as clean as it looks!

Curious though, should there be a gap on the convertible lid? I see a good sized gap on the driver's side. Is it because it's not all the way up? Misaligned?

Cant tell for sure from the pic. They are commonly not pushed down all the way sometimes, but IDK.

Auto is the death kiss.
The market for buyers is 50+ years old.
We all drove 4-speeds back when we were cool.
Autos = back of the yard sales, sadly, MOST times
autos are nicer, and cleaner.
But they do not command a price, they languish.
