Took my wife for a cruise last night for her first ride in the vette. She absolutely lived it. Loved the sportscar rough ride, the sound, the looks, etc.. She then started telling me when we got back how amazing the car will look restored and with a great paint job. I told her I would want to do a motor as well if we do all of that and she said, of course. She must want something or I am a very lucky man! She is interested in going to the cruise nights and such when we have a baby sitter. (4 boys) First time in years my wife and I just drove around together for no reason at all but to drive and talk and have fun. Looking for many more trips.

After church today, find an empty church parking lot. Plenty of room; no obstacles.

Default Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on a nice family and the new Corvette!!!

Believe it or not, my wife talked us into buying our first Corvette; I said at the time, "what do I need a Corvette for, I like to hunt and fish???"

Well, fast forward 7 years and now I do not hunt and fish very often, LOL's!!! Slippery slope, these Corvettes

Have got a 72, 76 and 08,

Anyway, couple of great Corvette clubs in your area, Greater New Orleans Corvette Club, Crescent City Corvette Club, Northshore Corvette Corvette Club, all great folks, great social fun plus lots of other Corvette lovers. The Greater New Orleans Corvette Club has a show coming up in October, I enter not to win trophies, but to have fun talking and looking at all the Corvettes. Suggest you check it all out.

All the best!

Glad to see more La people on here.
Been tinkering with it today. Getting parts list together to get ac going and new cooling system. Fun.

I was lucky also and my wife not only appreciates what the vette means to me, but also enjoys riding around in it and takes pride in it. She also insisted on side pipes.
If that were not the case, this whole thing would not be much fun.
You are a lucky man. I have seen when guys spend time and money on cars and it comes between them and the spouse. On the other end of the spectrum, I have seen it bring them together.
Glad you are on the good end

You lucky dog. I asked mine to come look at the new side pipes on a motor on a stand, and she only pointed at another motor on the ground and asked "and what was wrong with that motor??" That's when I informed her she was fired from pit crew duty due to poor morale She mumbled something as she walked off to get back in the pool. Gotta love those Chalmette girls. Anyway, I'm right across the lake from ya. The Harley Davidson shop over here does a corvette night monthly. You should come out some time.

Congrats! My suggestion would be to use it for a while before you tear into things.

That's great! After driving our '71 convertible, my wife said it was slow, steered poorly and was too hot. So now I'm building a new engine, adding Borgeson power steering and Vintage Air A/C (her assessment was spot on).

Thanks all. Definitely interested in meeting up anywhere. Was going to hit the lake front today but yard work and tinkering with car all day. Then ended up waxing it, gonna sleep like a baby tonight.

I am going to drive it for awhile for sure. I am not going to go too radical with it but usually when I start I don't stop and it's a total refit.

Just going to do the main items first. New ac compressor, radiator, electric fans, and stereo.

She really surprised me with her interest. My big hobby is kayak fishing and been doing that for about 10 years. She knows it's a passion with travel. I think she likes the corvette as it keeps me closer to home. Haha

She walked out earlier and was pointing at things and asking questions and such. It's nice. Then had my 3 younger boys under the car with me while changing a tail light. Good times ahead.

We went for a quick ride today and she laughs at the waves and nice car comments.

She has been in the car maybe 200 times in the 40 years we have owned it.
