FANTOMWORKS C3 restore

Of all the shows, I really dislike this one...I think the owner is a pompous, arrogant ***.
My favorites, though don't watch a ton. Overhaulin, also been watching Fat and the Furious, they are pretty funny. Gas Monkey too.....my number one though is Street Outlaws. I am sure all of them are scripted, but I like watching people that 'seem' like they are decent people.

I certainly can appreciate the sentimental importance of the car, and the fact that he apparently can afford it..but I value common sense just as much.
Common sense wins out in this mental tug if war.
I would have kept the original car just as it is/was (needing full restoration). I would then seek out another identical car, for the memory of the drives, and saved myself over a $100+ grand.

If that was my son I would do whatever I could to come back from the great beyond..........and kick him in the *** for being so foolish with his money.
The big issue was he didn't want anything replaced. He wanted everything repaired which can be a killer on time/dollar wise. The father would consistently leave the car out in the rain with the windows opened which of course rusted out everything.
But if this Vette story from this show wasn't bad enough, what about the 63 vert with the custom split window removable top. The car itself came out great and the idea is novel. But here is the clincher. When delivered to the shop it had the original 327. But since the cam was wiped out he TOSSED the motor and dropped in a crate 350. Bad cam, oh well, get a new motor.

Hi,
I'm curious about what kind of restoration can be completed in 1000 hours.
The restoration shops and individuals I've talked to about the time involved all seem to indicate it takes far more time than that to do a serious restoration.
This is why it's so easy to get far more money in a car than it's worth.
Regards,
Alan

I know we're talking about the Corvette on that episode but, in my opinion, the Corvette owner is a genius compared to the guy who had Fantomworks install a wrap and fake machine guns on his Cobra kit car.

EDIT: So a dude that makes $400 per hour at work might get the better deal just letting the shop just do it.

Struck me as odd because they said the guy was a F14 Pilot. which is a navy bird. Yet he wraps his car in a AF paint scheme

I heard Blue Angel as well.

I don't like fake guns. They're like breast implants. I like the real ones.
Blue Angels or Thunderbirds, if that guy had the skills and the ***** to fly jets like that he probably doesn't spend a lot of time thinking about financial matters. Those guys have OCD bad. They live and breath flying. Their only recreation is playing beach volleyball against Goose and Maverick.

Actually, he said he wanted it to look like a Thunderbirds plane. Since I thought he had said he was an ex-Navy pilot, I wondered why he didn't say "Blue Angels". Maybe the whole story was just whipped up by writers who don't know any better. Or maybe I heard it wrong...
