all that weight reduction and no one wanted to race....
Also, this is shot with an iPhone. I encourage anyone to try and stay still in one. Enjoy.

In the early/mid 70's, my grandfather had built 2 Chevelles for drag-racing. An LS6 car and an L-88 car. I know that the L-88 car was a regular car that had a crate engine swapped in. Don't know much about the 454 car.
My grandparents divorced, and my grandmother (who raised me, and ultimately gave me the 78 Pace Car I've had for the last 15 years) was left with the L-88. 4-speed, drove it on some kind of competition tire to keep it pointed straight. Red with black stripes. She commuted in it for a very short period of time and has no love lost with the car. You can imagine a newly single mother commuting to work and taking her kid to elementary school in a car that was slapped together with a crazy engine. She had it in and out of the shop all the time. She ended up trading it for a 74 Corvette, L-82 4-speed which she liked a hell of a lot more.
I still have fond of Chuck Harmon's L-88 build; I can't remember a car ever that I felt was more special to be around. Those videos are amazing, and only capture a small portion of the presence an L-88 has - especially at full song. Absolutely insane sound. No doubt that it's a legendary motor, and one that belonged in a race car.
Maybe some day...

I was thinking the same thing. I'm curious as to why such extensive fiberglass work was needed? I mean I know you guys know what you are doing, and you have the car as well as the customers instructions, but WOW!
If that one needed that much I hate to think about what mine will need.
Bye the way, I have the sound from the video you posted of this car as my ringtone!

He is a braver man than me...my entire body would have been trembling cutting into that car. Pics did not seem to warrant it...then again, pictures can be very deceiving. Still would have hurt me to do it...

Man I was wondering that as well. Why so much ripping apart? Was it all cracked up and ready to disintegrate? Crazy amount of work. Can you "over restore it" By making it to perfect?

I understand what you're saying, but for the dollars people spend on L88's, I've never been told to make it less shiny. People want perfection. I'll always do what my customer wants first and foremost. My opinion comes secondary.
