Also, to answer a previous question, I do not know if this car was being billed as original. As the restorer, I would have to say no. At the end of the day, its still a real deal L88 & that my friends, is good enough for me.

I haven't really gotten that far as to find out whats real about the car and whats not. As far as getting you an original hood, I'm sure I could figure something out.

Ecklers makes fine products, but nothin beats original.

From the picts it looks like you are just doing a body on resto. I would have thought the owner of my old L-88 would have done a body off after our discussion.

We base our restorations on parts availability and what the car needs most. Its all a battle with what parts are here this day and what parts are here the next, along with availability of space in our buildings as well. A lot of people think we do things *** backwards. I encourage anyone who's got 10+ restorations going on to try and keep it straight. Ive never done a true start-finish thread on here so I'm going to do that with this one.

You guys like pictures of nuts & bolts, right?!?

Feel free to post pictures of bolts, keep the pics of nuts to yourself.

In all seriousness though, love the car, looks like it has most of the right parts and I think you're doing it right, just fix the stuff it needs keep as much originality as possible.

I'm sure he will keep the factory In. Blue/Blue . It would be crazy to chance from what the paint/trim tag calls for.

Another inappropriate newbie question. what would a L88 in un restored condition go for ( like the one in this post ) and what would it be worth all done. A ballpark of course. Does the L88 have the aluminum heads? And once again, is this the factory hood? Does not seem to fit to well. Big wonky gap up by the pass side windshield.

Have to say love L88's and really try to collect as many GM parts that relate to the L88 68 as possible over here in the UK . Notice the rear calipers ? is this what you mean by parts available? as things get changed out to keep things on the road. Please keep pics coming on this great thread.

Great pics. Thanks for posting them. I noticed on the right rear suspension the strut rod has a pretty good bend in it and the brake caliper looks like a standard one not a J56. Underside of the body looks pretty good in the pics. Keep us informed on the progress and yes, we the love the nuts and bolts pics.

All of that depends on color, condition, history, etc...each car is its own deal. There are ballpark market values but big block vettes fluctuate often where small blocks are rather set in stone, though do have some play based on color, history, condition, etc...

J-56 brake Corvettes had duel pin front calipers & single pin standard back calipers which this car has. I checked when I bought this L-88 years ago. My 67 435 conv also has J-56 with the same thing.

This a question I have often asked a friend , and as of yet I always believed true J56 were rear too! Yet when looking at the James Garner AIR black and white pics while racing you can see rear twin pins BUT use single pads????????????? and drilled twin. So could a restorer of many L88 ansawer please. What are used on J56 option .

Thanks Ken, I always thought J56 used dual pin rear calipers. There is always something to learn.
