Default Remove a/c and heat?

Have any of you guys removed all a/c and heat components? My car is a 73 not #'s matching. I drive the car in the summer only in Chicago and when I purchased the car it didn't have a compressor for the ac system. I plan to remove the a/c and heat components including the blower and possibly duct work under the dash. Have any of you done this and is there a company who sells an a/c delete plate for the firewall? Thoughts comments appreciated.

Be sure about removing the underdash airbox and vents.....

that windshield may fog up VERY badly in a N.Y. second, and you'll have no way to dry the moisture with no blower or windshield defogger vents.

They're pretty proud of them, though.

WOW.....they are proud of 'em!

3-seconds might be better off trimming down the original box!

I removed my heater hoses and capped off the heater core to clean up the engine bay. I had my A/C repaired as you need it in Fl., heat not so much.

I only ever drive it in chicago summer with the t-tops off and never in the rain. I'm not sure I want the heat at all. Why would the windows fog up if the temperature is the same inside and out.

my windows fog up sometime from the vents I don't know why. But in the fall/ winter days or when it rains they do get fogged up inside. Also any moisture in the car for whatever reason comes out from floor boards and dash when driving car like after a car wash but I have a leak somewhere by the windshield wipers going in to car not a lot but enough to make my life miserable.

remove it all and make your own plate or use it as a cold air intake duct.

I'll ask the bonehead question: Why? What are you looking to gain? With a remanufactured compressor and a little work on your part, you could have the stock HVAC system working again.

My a/c has never worked, so during front suspension rebuild I removed the compressor and plan to remove all a/c system.

As for heat/defrost, I also never drive in the rain but have been caught in a stray rain storm on occasion. Needed defrost to clear the windshield. I would highly recommend keeping defrost capability. You never know when you may need it.

I would also keep the heat and defrost. I removed my ac components, glassed the hole in the firewall and put in a heater box from a non ac car for cheap. It looks clean, like its always been that way, takes up much less room and its there just in case.

Another reason to add the box is because one day you will sell the car, and selling a car with no heat, ac or defrost isn't going to help.

This might not be best for everybody, but I removed all the heat and AC components, except under dash ducts, put in the AC Delete expensive cover, and never missed any of it. My car is only driven in good weather, not too hot or cold - although in the 40s in daylight is fine. I do a lot of engine work on my car and its great to be rid of the clutter.

I removed my AC/Heater system because I Installed a Vintage Air AC/Heat system. Could not bare the summer heat in Texas with out. I have AC in my 37 Dodge PU with a 6-71 Blower..
