Default Chassis Overhaul Manual

I want to purchase a chassis overhaul manual for a 1970 coupe. The 1970 manual only has information for the 1969 corvette. Would the information in the 1971 manual be more applicable to a 1970 than the 1969 information, or is the difference too insignificant to be concerned about?

Thanks,

Gene

My service manual, also 1970, came with supplement, separate, with information for the 70 model year. I don't recall off hand what was on them, I may look when I get home from work.

Default Opps..I meant Chassis Overhaul Manual

Thanks for your reply. I do have the chassis SERVICE manual with the 1970 supplement, but meant to title this thread Chassis OVERHAUL Manual.

I don't have one but guessing that you're looking for one of these?

Yes that one or the version published for the 1970 model year. I am hoping that some one has some experience with one or the other so I make the best choice when I purchase a manual.

For the moment carburetor and distributor info. I am guessing that there are fewer differences between a 1970 and a 1971 than between a 1969 and a 1970. Although I could be mistaken, which is why I am seeking input from other members.

Thanks for your reply,

I have an original copy of the 1970 Chassis Overhaul Manual. It also covers the passenger cars, 10-60 series trucks and the 1969 Corvette.

Years ago, I had a copy of the 1968 Overhaul manual. I don't believe there was one produced just for 1969.

As far as most all of the accessories, engine and transmission, Overhaul manuals for 1968-72 would give you the necessary information. Specific engine set up details would also be found in the rear of the Chassis Service Manual for your year car.

Helm, Inc. provides all service manuals. They list a 1970 Chevrolet Car Shop Manual ST13070 for $40. Unfortunately, it's temporarily out of stock, but you can ask to be notified when it becomes available. Helm also lists a 1970 Car and Light Truck Overhaul Manual ST13170 for $45. It seems to be in stock.
If it were me, I'd buy the Overhaul Manual and and get in line for the Service Manual.
You also might try the Corvette vendors, you might luck out with the Service Manual.
I have the two books for MY 1969. They cover all Chevrolet car models including the Corvette. Well worth the money, way better than the new model manuals and way better than Chilton and Haynes.

What I am trying to accomplish is to get the most accurate information for the money I am going to spend. An overhaul manual was printed for 1969 models in both 1969 and 1970. No dedicated manual was printed for the 1970 model year. I was trying to determine if the the 1970 manual as published was sufficient or should I buy a 1971 manual since it appears that there are fewer differences between 1970 and 1971 than between the 1969 and 1970.

Thanks for your reply,

Obviously you'd didn't read my post #9. THERE IS A GM FACTORY OVERHAUL MANUAL FOR THE CHEVROLET CAR LINE INCLUDING CORVETTE.

Check it out: http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2...170&itemtype=N

There is also a service manual but you have to get in the queue for it: http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2...070&itemtype=N

I did read your reply, but my last post was to another individual who asked a question which had nothing to do with your reply.

The reason for my concern is that the 1970 Chassis Service manual was also published for the 1969 Corvette but there was also a supplement published for the Service Manual and I am not aware of any such supplement for the Overhaul Manual. Perhaps there was no need for a supplement and that is what I am trying to determine.

Thanks,

Gene

Didn't read post #8, either. NO 1969 (only) Overhaul Manual; the 1970 Overhaul Manual (passenger cars, light duty trucks, and 1970 Corvette) was written to include the 1969 Corvette, as well.

There was no need for an O/H manual supplement in 1970.

Is this the manual that was never published in 1969?

Can't be that rare, I have one of those too.
