Default Rear view mirror falling off..

It has come off 3 times now. I've tried different adhesives, cleaned the hell out of the window, followed the directions and it still falls off.

Anyone have a lead on what to use to keep it glued on?

It is not fun trying to drive these things with that gone. As I'm sure you all are aware, those side mirrors are just there for the looks.

The kit they sell at the local part stores works well. but you must follow the direction to the letter. Also make sure you hit the area with a fresh razor blade and some alcohol.

After 4 failed tries in less than a year, I ended up taking a black marker......outlining the metal plate that gets glued to the windshield.....then carefully rubbing 400 grit sandpaper inside the outline to scuff the area that would receive the glue and the plate.....then I followed the adhesive directions, but I let it cure overnight with some duct-tape holding the metal plate in place..........

It's still good after 5 years!

HMMM..razor blade+alcohol=911 call.

Just kidding, I know what you mean.

New blades-check
alcohol-check
marker-check
400 grit-check

Just may try all of that tomorrow, that thing hurts when it falls off and smacks my kneecap.

Just an update.

Mirror has stayed on for 2 days now. Ran the car around town and hit some "rough" roads.

Used that adhesive from O'reillys, cleaned everything with alcohol, roughed up the metal tab with some sandpaper and stuck it back on.

Hope it stays now.

Me too! If it doesn't......scuff up the area of windshield glass where the metal tab will glued on.....use masking tape to protect the surrounding windshield!

If not, drill a hole in your windscreen and bolt the damn thing to the glass...

I used JB Weld to hold mine on.. Good to go!
100+ Texas heat, and it's still on the windshield.

Just make sure you put alot of silicon on the bolt to prevent leaks.

Call around to local glass shops.
I have had a few put on for free because it's a "safety" issue.
To buy it yeah have to pay, to glue it on, call around and ask.

They have better "glue" then the parts stores or what you can buy. (or should have)
