Default Valve Covers-what are they?

Does anyone recognize these valve covers? They were on my '66 BB, but I know they're not for that motor. A friend said they might be from a late '71 454.

not from a corvette as all of them had driver side end by firewall with a sloped area to clear PB booster.

Most likely just non-Corvette BB valve covers.

For a '66 yes. But looking at the ZIP products catalog they show a similar set for a late '71 as a original reproduction with no sloped end.

I don't believe they're Corvette covers.

They're not 68-71E Corvette covers, because they were chromed. They're not 71-74 covers either (Corvette or otherwise), as they all used the round black rubber, push in oil fill cap.

I'm guessing they're 70 or earlier covers, from a passenger car. Camaro, Impala, Nova, Chevelle, pick-up, who knows????? Like the Corvette covers, there were numerous variations of the passenger car covers, throughout the years.

The bump out at the rear of the left hand cover, may help someone familiar with passenger car covers, identify them.

By the way, the covers in the ebay add, are 71's. They have the plain round hole for use with the 71-74 push in oil cap, but the 72-74 covers have different plug wire supports. They are not for 67-70's, as the add states.

Thanks, you've been really helpful. You answered my inquiry and I learned about the push in oil filler; I didn't know that.
