Default Reverse lockout?

I accidentally put mine in reverse going 45 or so, and got it out in time, but it surprised me that it didn't lockout. Have you guys got push the button on your shifter to put it in reverse on your automatic cars? I have to push the button down to shift into or out of Park, but there are no other detents on mine.

It should lock out. Your detent may be worn. I had to take my console apart and use a file to reshape the detent.
