Default 1970 Corvette Convertible LT1

Hello Group,

I am new to the forum and new to classic Corvette ownership. I've met some great guys from the local Vette club and they have been very helpful in helping me acquire a nice C3.

I've recently purchased a 1970 Corvette Convertible LT-1. It is Mulsanne Blue with Blue Vinyl interior. Love the car. All numbers (with the exception of the alternator and starter) match and have correct date codes. 65,000 miles.

I am looking for any extra information or history on the car and thought I'd post in this group. The serial number is as follows:
194670S405809
The car was originally sold in Rochester, NY (Palmyra Auto I believe) and then sold to Turner Corvette in Victor, NY. Bill Turner bought and sold the car 3 times, the last time being in 2000 to Mr. Ian McGuffin. The car was then brought to Ontario, Canada.

If anyone has any information on the car or knows of the car (previous owners, stories, etc), I would really appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks,

Bruno Vendittelli

Bruno,
You should join NCRS and post an advertisement in the bi-monthly publication, The Driveline. Lots of fellow Corvette owners also seeking previous histories on their cars.

Hi Bruno,
Sounds like a pretty NICE car you've bought.
Besides joining the NCRS for the reason 'es' mentioned you might find it to be a good source of information about cars like yours in general.
You should really check out the NCRS site and see if becoming a part of it might interest you.
How about a few PICTURES!?!
Regards,
Alan

Google sez:

http://www.c3registry.com/index.php?...e&car_id=11287

Ignore the calculations showing the car being 1 of X, they're inaccurate.

Welcome aboard Bruno!

You have found the best source of information on these cars with tons of Crazy Canuk Corvette owners here!

Its unfortunate that yours is formerly a US sold car as I understand that the original information for domestic cars was lost long ago. Cars originally sold new in Canada still have records available because GM Canada kept a separate file for all new cars brought in.

The best leads as mentioned are the NCRS and possibly the Registry if it had been added by an original owner.

Good luck!

Hello All,

I plan to pick up the car this weekend. I had my brother's shop go over it to ensure all is in tip/top order and ready to drive. Once I pick it up, I'll take photos and post them. The current photos I have are from the previous owner (lots of them), but they are really detailed photos of the undercarriage, carb, air cleaner, brakes, interior with seats out (for detailing), etc, etc.

Thanks,

Bruno

Wow Fantastic

Question for any one. Did the LT-1 not have a rear sway bar?

I believe the rear sway bar was only on big block cars.

Hi Barry,

Yes, I did purchase it in London, ON. Previous owner was Ian McGuffin. Dave Crabbe did the detailing on it (and new brake lines, caliper rebuild). He documented all the numbers.

You know the car?

Thanks,

Bruno

Looks like a great car. Got any engine pics? Does the car still have the original engine?
