Will the fuse box and under dash wiring from z 79 interchange with any other year? I have an 81 and need new wiring and have a 79 fuse box and wiring.

My 81's had things light cruise and high beams on the turn signal lever,
If stuff like that is the same it "should" would but 81 has computer stuff 79 didnt did they?
I know where I wanna put my 82 steering column in my 69 even the plugs are all different, not to mention lots of wiring....

Anyone got any suggestions. No computer to worry about.
Is there anyway the wiring harness from a 79 will work in an 81 without computer.
I just need the basics. Lights, gages, etc.

You're asking a question that possibly can't be answered. Because each year, differs slightly or significantly from the year before or after, it's nearly impossible to tell you, what works with what. A 1975 harness will have a provision to work with a GM HEI and an electric tach, versus my 1974 with a regular distributor and mechanical tach.

I'd say 99.9% of us C3 owners are going to put the wiring harness that is going to work, for that exact year that we own. If you are a total car electrical pro, then you might do, what you're thinking of doing, but seeing as these cars are a PITA to work on, that'll be up to you.
