1977 paint help please (pics)
I purchased a pair of sport mirrors for my 1977. Thank you redvetracr! I also purchased some spray paint, paint code 28 and clear coat. I am very happy with the quality of the paint. However it does not match. Does anyone have suggestions about matching this paint so I can finish and attach these mirrors? I know it is hard to see, but the car looks closer to a royal blue, and the 28 matched paint is closer to navy blue.

I am no painter but it appears the color chip is much darker than the body, I would suggest bringing the car to the paint shop and have them match a chip to the car. Is it original paint? If its not I would look to see if I there is primer overspray anywhere and would match that color as well. My 0.02

I would bet your car was a repaint. And you also should realize that even if you have the right color (which you probably don't) it is most likely a little faded and wouldn't match anyway. Taking it to a shop and have them color match the mirrors is best way. One other alternative is to drive down to the automotive paint store and let them match the color with a special camera that most paint stores have. It will usually give you a formula that is close enough. But you will still need the chemicals, a gun or one of those propellant cans with the glass jar attached to the bottom. My .02

Yep, take the car to an automotive paint supply store and they will match it. Then take your pint of matched paint to some body shops and find a guy that's willing to shoot your mirrors . You should strip the rattle can paint off first. It's likely to react badly to "real" paint.

Yep, English is the place to go. You can check with the guy that painted my car, he may be willing to spray it: T&A collision, 972 496 0302, ask for Tim. He's in Sachse.
