I like my VW stuff and love my vette stuff but not mixed.
I recall both the scorpion and that multi blue wide body, seems the builder of the wide body called it his smiles mobile,
I loved the idea of the Scorpion but it doesn't really look much like a vette anymore,
But it's so darn radical it just screams coolness.
I doubt you could even drive it, 4 turbos feeding a v8 off likely a modded 'vair tranny...
I was so disillusioned when I first learned in my teens that some customs are for looking at not driving,
That chevy 2 that was in all the mags back in the late 70's had twin turbos feeding a blower, how we had day dreams of 200 plus mph runs on the salt and sub 10's on the 1320
Then about 20-30 years later I read in CC or HR how the builder said they could never get it to run right and it couldn't be driven....all hype.

Tho some may choose to view this question in only B&W, and despite varying opinions among the rest of us as to exactly what a tasteful, well-executed custom may be, that such cars can generate a strong response from those who care one way or the other is undeniable evidence that we're somewhat emotionally invested in the hobby, whatever our individual preferences. So, IMHO, love 'em or hate 'em, these cars serve to validate us as genuine enthusiasts.
As for what my jaundiced eye beholds as beauty, foremost that would be whenever form follows function. (Give me a Jones Racing gilmer belt setup over a the bling of a fancy chrome accessory drive system any day!) On the other hand, I simply loathe poserware such as that non-functional FI bird catcher.
Anyway, when it comes to aesthetics, while I can't explain why certain exotic touches may or may not appeal to me, I certainly know automotive **** when I see it.
Good thread. Keep those customs coming...

top pick until you find out that it has no title (bill of sale only), no glass, no t tops, interior a disaster and a rotted frame. I really wanted this car until above information was found out and that's not worth the time, effort or money to risk.

I'd be embarrassed to be seen by any of these examples (someone might think they were mine)..with the exception of Brents, that car is tasteful, and beautiful.
To each his own.

I honestly do not know,
I got way over that chevy 2 when it seemed it was in every car mag every week,
I was not at all shocked when I read it didn't even run,
back in the late 70's early 80's my thing was radical customs I did a camaro that was as wild or gross ( lol ) as the corvette summer car,
But I did swap it for a 72 bb convertible vette so...
Now all these years later I mellowed a bit on way radical I really love the restro rod road race look and to hide the radical with things like tilt front clips that look stock-ish closed.

And From Sweden, My Favorite Mako Shark
Wild Colors! There's more money in tape and masking paper in this car than in mine in total.
In case no one has noticed, I like my customs "over the top"

Custom corve
Hi brick1234, I know this thread is years old, but I came across it looking for a different car. The car that you posted used to be my corvette. As a matter of fact, the four pictures that you posted were my pictures. I lost that car when my storage unit got sold. I was wondering where you saw it for sale. I am interested in tracking the car down. Thanks.
