Default Love my C3 but I'm in the market to get a C5 or C6....delemia

Looking for opinions...I'm in the market to obtain a C5 (2004 preferred) or a C6 (2006 preferred).....Wife gave me the green light ...just not for a C7... even though my 3 year old son is getting a C7 power wheel for xMass

My current C3 is a 81 w/ CCC fully operational, and its Black/black

Id like to stay with Black/Black, see if I get lucky and I and def going after a Glass top w/ 6 Speed manual...

Whats your take on the better buy - C5 or C6 ??

That all depends on whether you consider getting a C5 Z06, versus a regular C6. If it's just the base models, then the C6 is the one to get. If you're looking at a Z06, then IMHO, I'd be getting the C5. Both of these are roughly at the same price point (C5 Z06 vs early C6 base coupe).

Of course, this depends on your preferences...

There should be plenty of used C7's to choose from. If it were just between a C5 or C6, I'd go with a C6 Grand Sport.

Drive them both ... I think you'll like the C6 better.

C6 is a better Corvette. I still like the C5 though if you wanted cheaper.

Go C6, but save up and get a 2008 or newer for the LS3.

Thanks for the replies guys, been very helpful and yes I do have a lean towards the C6...I'm actually shocked at how affordable the 05's to 08's are and with low miles ... Lt 1-3 package options along with z51, ls3, etc...so maybe I've talked myself into a C6 just as all of these opinions here have

I have had two C5 Corvettes..my current is a C5 Z06...it is stock and very quick. The C5 Z06 is capable of 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds and 1/4 mile times in the high 11's in stock form. The C5 Z is just a blast to drive.

As others have said... you just need to drive them both.

My son recently bought an '07 C6. It's a great car. Honestly, the underpinnings of the car are literally identical to a C5. That's why many refer to the C6 as the C5 1/2.

I like them both. Both models are very reliable. Some of the electronics can be expensive to replace, but they don't need a lot of replacing. I bought my '02 C5 Z06 new, and it has been a great car.

I have had C5's and C6's. Both great cars. The C5 can be bought very reasonably right now. The C6 is just more car in every respect. The C6 Z06 is the best of them all IMO. I have an 06 Z06 and it is a fantastic car. 505 hp and 28 mpg. Stay away from the 05 Corvette. I bought one new and it was a lemon. They had electrical issues. 06 up you will be fine.
