Will these upgrades ruin my car?
I want to do a few things to my vette physically before mechanically.
My father shoots down most of my ideas cause he doesn't want me to ruin my car. I understand that. My car is a 79 most people say it doesn't have value anyway because its a 79. Years dôwn the road he thinks the value will be gone if I do these upgraded
Here's the things I wañnna do physically I hadn't few other ideas on past forums but here's the physical things that make the final list.
Rear window louver, lambo style doors (just a kit opening my door differently then a couple hours installing it) and sport seats. In my opinion all of these will up the look of the car! But years from now will these changes hurt my cars values?

Will not hurt at all , IMO .
The things you want to do can be removed / uninstalled / unbolted and nothing is hurt . Just keep Ur old stuff . And what you want to do will only help you car . Once again , IMO

anything reversible wont hurt to much if people don't wanna buy it as is you can always put back to stock. Now permanent mods like shaving handles and chop tops is only worth it to some one whos looking for those mods and doesn't wanna go thru hassle of doing it and waiting for car. I say do it and cruise down highway with doors up like them rap videos.: thumbs:

also older guys don't like that stuff my dad never wanted to do a lot of thing he wanted to bring it back to stock and undo all the "mods" he did in his 20s and 30s maybe in 10 to 15 years i'll wanna have my car boring looking but for now im a have fun with it my way just like he did only difference is my way is better and I've been keeping certain things I take off just in case but that wasn't the case when he did it.

louvers only if they are the Cragar brand, no to everything else. It's not a Honda

Well I am an "older guy" and nothing that I own is stock but think long and hard about those Lambo doors before you do it. I don't see how it's "just a couple hours" to install. Don't the doors have to come off and the door harnesses have to be lengthened?

Yes and no.
Financially, readily reversible mods won't hurt its resale value as long as you are prepared to put everything back in order to appeal to a broader market if/when it becomes time to sell. And, FWIW, there are certain mods (reversible or not) that might actually increase its value to a few potential buyers if tasteful and well-executed in their opinion. But, IMHO (and I'm no purist by any means), Lambo doors ain't one of them. YMMV

The only thing that ruins your car is not installing the mods to your car that you want. The value of your car, to me, is how much enjoyment you get from it while you own it, not what you're able to resell it for.
You own it, if you're worried about monetary value buy something other than a rubber bumper C3. (I have one too)

lol, my kids say I'm old, but I still tell everyone I am 29 and holding.
I bought my car 2 years ago and have no intention of leaving it stock.
I love the lambo doors, don't care what everyone else thinks, but they may go too high when the car is up on the ramps in my garage so I am holding off.
I replaced the stereo first thing, there is nothing stock about my sound system. I replaced the seats with Fiero ones because I hated the original ones. I replaces all the dash lights with LED ones, so not stock there either. There are some things that should NOT remain stock. The manufacturer changed them in new versions for a reason.
What you have listed is NOT radical and can be undone if needed. I would expect that when/if you sell your 79, the purchaser will love the doors. I know I would. As for the louvers, I hate them on a vette, but that's my opinion, not yours.
As long as the car runs and is safe, do what you want to spice it up. Your dad can always drive his bone stock caddy behind you down the road.

PS. keep the old seats and hinges, just in case a purist wants to buy your car down the road.
