C2 Fuel Injection on a C3
I've been digging through old threads and around the net, but I have yet to find a pic of a C3 sporting an old Rochester fuel injection unit.
Has anybody run anything like this or maybe just have a picture of one? I cant be the first person to think of this , Can I?

I dont have a picture but many years ago I would see it on lots of customs, then I guess as the price when up and supply went down I stopped seeing them much,
I am guessing and a purist can clue me in but unless you just wanna do it to be different I would think modern aftermarket fuel injection like "fast" would work better and be cheaper...

Sacrilege!!
I've seen complete, restored units and even an NOS unit in a wooden crate at Corvette Carlisle for sale many times if you're really interested, just bring a big wad of hundreds with you.

I have a car that was born and raised in SE Michigan running Fridays and Saturdays on Woodward Ave. I've had a couple of conversations with my original owner, and he's told me that within the first few months he owned my 70 LT-1 he put a C2 FI unit on it. Along with headers and side pipes, square bulb pop up headlights, Motor Wheel Spyders and a stripe down the middle.
The FI was long gone when I bought it, but the other mods are still there. I've been on the fence about going back towards the stock setup, or to go back to his "original" setup. I've been slowly collecting the parts to turn this back to its street/road racer setup.
I recently stole a FI unit of Ebay, and that was the last piece of the puzzle. I have a set of drop in inside out shark gills from Fiberglass Mike (thanks Bats) and a roller gas cap, and a whole winter with nothing to do. Idle hands, right?

Try Google > Images, then the old Corvette magazine archives. I can recall articles about C3s running C2 FI.

The Rochester FI would fit and "work" on a C3 but you would want to do it more for looks than performance as any new EFI systems will out perform the Rochester mechanical fuel injection.
Also, the plenums were designed for 283s and 327s, you're not gonna be able to keep up with the air flow demands on a healthy 350, 383 or bigger.
I would go TPI before I'd go with the Rochester FI.
Just my .02

Why run bias plys if you dont have to?
I do not know for sure but I bet the old gm FI would cost double what some modern better working better performing set up would cost,
The only reason to do it on a car that isn't all ncrs pristine and came with it would to be different,
Kind of like me wanting a tri power on my BB

....or like I said, that I've talked to my original owner, and he put one of these on along with all of the other mods that are still present. I think its cool to have a period correct looking car. And how better to get that look than by setting it up exactly like it was in 1971.
I love the conversation, but I am still yet to see a pic.

Do not get me wrong I LOVE old school and custom survivers, but I just can't bring myself to take "period correct" to the point of things like bias ply skinny tires or points ignition,
You desire pictures...it will look the same as it does on a c2...sorry that wasnt mean to come off snarky... but if I want a mod bad enough it doesn't matter if I can see how mr jones did it,
Grab you one, put it on there and be the first one here to have it and post a picture....

After everything was said and done, he essentially has a Ram Jet EFI system built into a 65' FI housing.
If I had a 65' FI and wanted to go EFI but keep the stock look, this would be the way to go but for most of us, this option would be prohibitively expense....

Great article but holy smokes was that a LOT of effort!

He hid a small carb in the blower case,
granted I realize this FI set up is real but man oh man,

Rochester fuel injection on a C3
Seems to run great, love the look. Very little hood clearance with the stock SB hood. I remember Zora looking at in 1985 when I was on the Black Hills Run from Sioux Falls, he seemed surprised & hopefully approved.
Currently rebuilding the car, I eventually want to have the fuelie professionally rebuilt & tuned. Looking for someone in the Phoenix area.
