Default 1971 window crank question

Hi, I noticed that my window cranks are loose. When I installed the new door panels I didnt have any springs behind the handles only the plastic discs. I noticed online that they sell springs to take up the tenion behind the handles. Does anyone know if the springs are stock and do they go between the handle the plastic disc or between the disc and panel? thanks

If memory serves, there are no springs. Have you checked the assembly manual?

Hi 2c,
The regulator handle was originally installed using a "spring" washer. (A very thin curved washer made from spring steel)
It's Item #7 on UPC 1 (Doors), Sheet K5.
It puts the shaft and thus the handle under tension. Check to see that it's there. It goes on the shaft first (under the housing).
Regards,
Alan

It's sometimes called a 'wave' washer.

You can get it from Zip try the link below. You may be able to get the spring by itself I would suggest you email them and ask.

Hmmmm, this is very interesting. Who knew? Well, I guess Alan did. I wondered the same thing because my 69 handles are loose too. I thought the splines were just worn out but haven't gotten to that part of the build yet to really focus on them. That's why I love this place so much. The things a guy just stumbles across is amazing.
