Now Mike Ward.....you know darn well it was originally a red convertible/425BB/4 speed/3.56.1 diff./shoulder belts/left rear tire 4 lbs. low on air........

(just picking Dinovettes....there are a couple websites that provide some info about standard equipment related to VIN and Trim tag info....just can't remember them...I found that my car ( 350 cu.in./TH400 A/T/Black).......was originally a black/327/4-speed/manual brakes/non-power steering)

Hi,
Looking at d's avatar I think both Mike and Revi should have added…
"and thank you very much for asking"!
Regards,
Alan

DG, If such a site exists it would/will CHANGE EVERYTHING!
The trim tag contains exterior color and interior trim color along with the car's approximate build date; but nothing else.

It took me a few hours to find it.....it contained general information on a list of vehicles....I think the VIN # was compared to the trim tag---then compared to the # of vehicles produced in a certain year(convertibles, hardtops, coupes) which had certain standard equipment).

O.K.,,,,I'm really confusing myself now.....I'll try to find it again (I had to send my laptop off for repairs and they cleaned up the hard drive---I lost all the websites that I had in my Favorites (or it's entirely possible I dreamed the hole.....errrr.....whole thing!

Hi Dv,
So …. the trim tag on the driver's side a-pillar will tell you the car's approximate build date, the exterior color, and the interior trim color.
Only the build sheet that was placed on top of the gas tank of all cars will list the original engine configuration, transmission type, rear differential ratio, standard equipment, and optional equipment, for this particular car.
This is why the build sheet is such a terrific find for many owners.
Regards,
Alan
