Any color opinions for my 81?
Hi all,
Ive been working pretty hard on my corvette for the last month or so, stripping it down and prepping it for paint, and am starting to get close to the fun part. It's original color is beige and I am wanting to repaint it a type of red. First of all, I'm not really looking for a super bright red, but not something as dark as maroon, either. The closest I've found to these guidelines is autumn red. Does anybody have some pics of their car? Also, just looking at paint off of newer corvettes, it seems that magnetic red would fit pretty nicely. Does anyone have any pics of this or any other type of newer corvette colors on their c3? I don't know if I really want to go out of stock colors, but if it looks nice enough I'd be willing to. Thanks for the help!

Red is going to be expensive regardless of what shade or variation you go with. My advise look at lots of new cars and find something you like. Stay away from custom mixes and 3 stages in case you ever have to "touch up". The newer Corvettes have some great reds to pick from.

The color on my avi is still probably too bright for what I'm looking for, easymike. Brack c, thanks for the suggestion! Do you have any pics? What cars did that originally come on? Anybody else? Thanks

Here is the color I used on my Chevelle . It was darker at night & really sharp in the sunlight . Its a metallic paint .....but not metal flake . The sun really made it standout .

Sounds like you're looking for a darker red ... this is a Chrysler (Jeep) color that's very close to Chrysler's "Inferno Red." The Chrysler code is: PRJ
Good Luck,
