Default pool of coolant

Please help!!!

I have had my 73 L82 sleeping now for over a month. This afternoon when I opened the garage door, there was a pool of radiator fluid all over the floor.

I haven't had the opportunity to examine it yet. I'm hoping its just a hose but are there any other scenarios that it could be.

Thanks in advance!!

Starting to overheat

Could be anything connected to cooling system. Most likley you didn't notice before because a drip here and a drip there never really get noticed.

You are going to have to pressure test it and look for the leak. No sense in throwing parts at it cuz " it mighta been this, or mighta been that, or on my bud billy bob'z once it was the warp drive a leakin".

If the freeze out plugs are as old as the car, one of them could have rusted through.

I had a water pump seal let go one time ( not a Vette) and did the same thing. Take a good look around the front of the engine near the water pump, radiator and hose area and see if anything looks wet.

had a pool of coolant myself here not too long ago, it was/is the heater core for me. I've since routed the hoses bypassing the core for now.

Default cold weather

Check the rad end of the lower hose. Things tend to shrink during prolonged cold temperatures. There's a good chance just an 1/8 turn on the clamp will fix the problem.

Sound advice, maybe your local auto parts store can rent you a pressure tester.
