Whats the deal between Rubber Bumpers n Chrome Bumpers?

Resale was never a factor when I bought my 73. Although I wish I could afford a bumper car, bumpers on one end is close enough. I bought it cuz I was in love with the C3 from the first time I saw one. (which happened to be a 1968 Corvette commercial when we were watching Bewitched). I was just a small child. I have it now and it will be a long road restoring it but I will have it forever.

Personal opinion of course but I like the Chrome era for one reason: That was how the car was designed. I was 5 years old when my 1969 was built and I grew up a C3 fan so I waited patiently for this opportunity to be the custodian of a classic. Hoping my choice of a BB 69 vert that is all original (survivor), Numbers matching, mechanically perfect, low mileage, etc. will be a good investment over time. In the meantime I drive her at least once a week.

I like both styles, but in my eyes they are totally different even they are both C3's.
I like the chrome bumpers because they are more "classic" than a rubber bumper and the front and back are the same style and look shorter (that may be an optical illusion).
I also like the rubber bumper because they have a different modern look and seems a bit longer with the elongated front and rear bumper caps. (I have an '80)
But for me from a design point of view chrome and rubber bumpers are beautiful C3's with specific styling in the front and back.
I am sorry to say, but that is the reason i don't like a '73. Combining two completely different styles in one car is weird.

Again, it comes down to personal preference. For example, I prefer the looks of the 67 & 68 Mustang, but don`t give two hoots for a 65 or 66. Same with the 66 GTO.... go ahead and keep the 65s. A 69 Firebird beats a 67 every day. Just what I like best, as Bats says....too each his own.

Ill start by sayin Id gladly own any year corvette.
But Ive always liked the 74-77 the best. Probably has to do with age as well. remember being around 10 or 11 and seeing the 74 for the first time, without the bumpers. It just looked so futuristic. As opposed to every other car getting bigger and bigger metal bumpers the vette was so sleek.
Loved it, still do.
