Default Manual Window Regulator Rebuild

I could use anyone's input on rebuilding the manual window regulators on my 77.
One question is the safe removal and replacement of the large spring.

Secondly, I also have drilled out the rivets that hold the gear housing, and found another spring inside there. My problem is that the handle is very hard to turn and sort of ratchets in direction. The teeth on the sector gear and drive gear are perfect so that is not the problem. In the direction of rotation that tightens the large spring, it works ok. But in the other direction unwinding the large spring, it sorta hangs up, before it moves, i.e. ratchets.

Once I drive the pin out of the shaft, and disassemble it farther, I will be able to look at it closer. Maybe I need a new small spring, or maybe it just needs cleaned and lubed.

I will take an information you all could provide. If anyone knows someone who rebuilds these or has parts, please let me know.
