There are opinions, but generally, it is standard practice to post pics, because the very experienced eyeballs here, are very good at picking out things. Like misaligned headlights and body panels, wrong year add-ons, poorly done mods and the like. How can we judge the car, just based on your description? Have you read the Sticky Thread at the top of this forum, "Ten Rules for buying your first C3 Corvette"?
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-corvette.html
I think the price is waaay too high. It better have one hell of a paint job and an engine to command that, or be very, very original and with the color change, that's not going to happen. Around here, typical '74 or '75 Roadsters, here in SoCal, go for about $15K.
What was the original color and why did he change it? There are a few members here who don't like some of the C3 colors and that's fine, but a '74 or '75 roadster in a rare color (no real numbers available for '75, but there are some colors, like the 1975 Bright Green, 1,664 total) that I've only seen a handful of times, ever.

Color change ...not good .....repainted red cars same ol story...
Answer...oh I repainted for my wife ...that left me 10 years ago. ...LOL
Ugh? Fools
What was original color? I'd have to repaint it. The TAN /Gold bronze ..what ever it was ....anyway that would be SUPER cool or silver or blue ......wonder what color it started out. It would have to be a neat original color I liked or I totally walk away.
Need pics .....all around car , engine ....under car up on lift.
Love the 75 convertible .....one of my favs of all corvettes...beautiful
Equipped right
Smog missing .....wouldn't bother me
It's a head turning car ......and the 75 model is very friendly , good reliable corvette , doesn't overheat.
Sound high for wrong color car. Any vintage muscle car painted non stock deducts price ....no matter how good the paint or color. Sorry I loose interest right there .
Unless it's a rare Z07 optioned 75 .....the price sounds high. By about the price of a decent paint job. 22,000 minus 6-8 grand for paint if paint is all that's required
If ...it was an original factory red car , numbers matching , deluxe interior with an outstanding paint and body ....yeah 22K would be fine
I'm thinking 14K

Original color according to the dealer's invoice which I have the original copy was metallic orange which I believe is flame orange. Engine transmission and rear end are all original to the car and the car is all original unrestored very good condition except for the smog pump and repaint which is very good. A very well kept car.

Everyone has an opinion. The only question here is whether you think the 75 convertible is worth $22K based on your description. You've seen the car; we haven't.
Is this your car? You say you have the original dealer invoice.

Pictures of the car and the sales invoice would be of great help in answering your question. Also, what type of paperwork and owners history comes with the car? The car you describe has four great things going for it:
L-82
4 speed
Gymkhana Suspension
AC
The two things that effect the value of this car are the color change and the AC not working. A nice 1975 convertible should be worth $16,000 with the L82,4 speed and AC. The repaint would not bother me. Just keep in mind that if you ever sell it the buyers will try to beat you up on this change.
Good Luck,
George

Some comparisons of what's for sale out there, right now...
$20K, 30K original miles, four speed L48. Yellow - Tan
https://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/cto/4794394238.html
$15.5K, no pics, older repaint from blue to red. With hard top and all records from new.
https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/4803271885.html
$12.5K 101K miles, white with blue interior (normal wear), auto, L48, but nice looking nonetheless.
http://nwct.craigslist.org/cto/4788805477.html
$21.5K, 25K miles(?). Very nice custom paint, aftermarket wheels, L48, four speed.
https://columbia.craigslist.org/cto/4799047430.html
$20.5K, Yellow Tan, with white top. Nice looking, automatic.
http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/4800742513.html
$18K. Total Custom, wild paint, graphics, but well done. Except for the green carpet! 502 BB, AC too, but that worn out green carpet! (I like it, though) Has the later 'spaceship' style seats from the later C3's.

Once you get past year, mileage and condition knowledgable buyers are looking for originality, color and options. The red can be changed back to Orange. Now what about options. More is better with special engines bringing more. Taking the options one at a time considering there were about 38500 1975 Corvettes only 4600 were convertibles, only 2400 were L82s, only 9500 were 4 speeds, only 3200 were FE7 Gymkahana suspension. If you were looking for a 1975 L82 4. Speed Convertible with Gymkahana you might be looking for a long time. Oh and only 2800 thereabouts were Orange. If it were me and the car is nice I wouldn't hesitate to pay $20-22K. But I place a premium on cars like this.
