Melting Slicks
After following your Sparty build, I'm surely looking forward to this one.
My vote goes to back to original, a gold 350/350 4 speed.

Looks like a great project car. Riverside Gold is a nice color and the L46 is a great engine. Looking forward to your updates. With rivizio and now you restoring a couple of really nice 69's there will be a lot of interesting posts for us 69 guys to follow.

Hi David,
The publication from NCRS is titled '1968-1969 Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide'. I thought you were an NCRS member and knew about it, so abbreviated it.
If you think there might EVER be Flight Judging in this 69's future…. even by a future owner, it would be wise for you to get to know the information in it.
That information will have an impact on how this car is restored.
Regards,
Alan

Dave, I have an original 7029207 DA Quadrajet core if interested. It is an original (not service replacement) but the date is off for your car (2619). I'd let it go relatively cheap.

BUT I've bought new heads, I've been fighthing for years now, with knocking due to high compression and the quality of gas I can get here in Denmark. (99 octane Shell classic car EU gas. I think it is 94 octane US gas)
That is why I've bought new heads, to lower the compression.

I agree, the L46 is a nice engine.

Are you sure it's a detonation issue? Is your engine stock?

It is actually a project that has been in progress for a number of years now. I am just fortunate enough to be able to take it from its current status of 80-85% to the finish line.
Car will be available when finished, just not sure when that will be yet.

No problem Mike. I honestly was wondering the same thing. Should this engine be running on 89 mid grade or does it really need 91 high octane RON?

Yes, L46 186 heads, HW block 0.030 over, +2.6 pistons, 3.48" stroke, L46 cam.

It's unlikely that it will be able to run detonation free on 87 like the later cars with lower compression.
