Terrorizing Orange Cones
Age is just a number, right? That's what I keep telling myself AND my favorite plastic car. Both of us look pretty good for being old farts.
Love the cheap gas. Sure will make warm weather cruising more enjoyable... thumping past those econo-boxes that so many ride in.

All kidding aside, lets all hope it stays this way for the summer. I'm cautiously optimistic, but it sure would be nice to see these low totals at the pump. Some weekends last summer it was quite a shock compared to filling my Civic Si. I'm currently at 81 cents per litre, down from a high of $1.31 a litre.

Not old....things just changed too fast!
I paid $4.50 to fill my Olds Cutlass in 1971. With 3 other friends contributing a dollar each, we would cruise for fun all weekend and I still had gas left over in the tank. About 25¢/gal. for regular.
I worked as a gas station attendant (remember those?) back then and while filling your tank I was also required to clean your windshield, check your oil, tire pressure if you wanted it. and give out S&H Green Stamps for your purchase!

My Mom would pull in and fill her truck up, i would give her five books of S/H filled in with stamps... Plus the complementary silverware/plates/drinking glasses that was the current rage back them..
She would look at me and say is this right?
What a blast..
Just saying, us old Farts

Compared to recent times, I'd say gas really was cheaper..... 25¢/gal. and minimum wage was $1.25/hr. (what I earned in 1971). In 2013-14, gas was close to $4.00/gal., and minimum wage about $8.00/hr......1 hr's work buys you 2 gallons........back then, 5 gallons!

Went from NY to Florida May of '66 and logged the mileage and $$ spent, high test was running .32 to .34 along US 1. Tried to stick with Sunoco 240 or "good" Gulf back in those days.
