1970 corvette vacuum hose routing
Hi All,
Maybe my searching skills are not that great as I am sure this has come up before. I am looking for a diagram (or picture) of where the hoses are routed for my vacuum system. I have a diagram of what connects to what, I just want to know where under the hood is the best place to route them.
Thanks!!

Hi n01,
Here are the pages from the 71 AIM.
Much of it is the same as your 70. The main difference I can think of is the location of the wiper door relay changed.
Also you'll have the washer hoses running forward with the rest of the headlight hoses.
Are you really working on one of these cars without an AIM and a Chassis Service Manual????
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan. I feel like an idiot! Of course I have an AIM. I haven't done anything this complex so haven't looked at it yet. I will now stick my head under a chair and let people laugh at me.

Hi n01,
No need to hide!
I'm just glad you have something to refer to.
The big difference is whether the relay is mounted on the right side apron (71) toward the center and rear of the master cylinder. That affects how the hoses for the wipers run.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
These are a couple of my favorite pictures. They illustate what a warped mind created the headlights. And these don't even have the washer hoses!

70 vacuum hose routing
The AIM even shows where the tape goes was to hold the vacuum hoses and wiring harness.
Mine is a 70 so feel free to ask any questions. I believe 70 was unique in that they also had both a low note and high not horn. At some point GM changed to a single horn. Trust me when I say those two horns are VERY loud
I will try and snap an iPhone picture tomorrow.

Thank all for the support. Got this done yesterday with no real SNAFUs. Pretty easy to follow along where the new ones went...basically were the old one came from. :-) Of course, now that that whole system works, I have to tackle the electrical part of the wiper system.
Never finished...but always lovin' it!

Hi Lou,
Yes, in 70 it was up near the master cylinder and then went back down to the apron.
Also a pair of formed metal tubes (about 4' long) were added to cut down on the number of hoses running across the firewall. They run from the area of the mst. cyl. to near the right side hood latch.

Alan
