Default Battery problem!! What size should i buy? HELP!!

Hello

I have 1980 Vette. I just bought this battery Exide (74-60) (see below picture) a month ago, I used the car for two days then I unplugged the battery cable. Came back after a month plugged the cable back, battery was dead. I tested the battery at shop, it was completely dead.

My question is:
Am I buying the wrong battery size?

What size of battery do you use on your C3? size, BCI, etc?

Rookie suggestion: Buy a quality battery tender and USE it if you go more than 7 days without driving the car. They help the battery "live longer". Even if your car can go 2-3 weeks or more before starts, use one.
You may have bought a battery that has one defective cell in it....I've gotten one of those in 50 years.....it would crank slower every month even though I drove the car a few times a week.
Buy a battery with at least 800 CCAmps.

Surely after one month you have a defective battery. It is not an issue related to CCA. Have it replaced under warranty. Mine sits for five months each winter (room temperature) with no problems. It is disconnected. Note blade switch.

Unless you have a defective battery (which does happen occasionally), you must have an open circuit. My guess would either be a bad courtesy light timer or a bad diode in the alternator.

If your courtesy lights stay on or come on at odd times and don't turn off, the timer is the problem. That's not unusual after so many years.

if you replace the battery, purchase a 78 group size. This a larger size than the one you have and will have more cranking amps. I also recommend installing a shut off on the negative side. I turn mine off whenever the car is parked overnight or longer. They prevent any battery drains and safeguard against an electrical fire.

Good advice. As my pic shows, disconnect on negative side. The Delco group 78 is a good choice.

The battery in my pic (MotoMaster) is from Canadian Tire here in Canada. It is actually an Exide product. Has served me well for four years and four winters. As I said above, the OP has a defective product. Just return the darn thing under warranty. I don't see the problem?

Why put the cutoff on the negative, my limited knowledge of electrical would tell me to put it on the positive to prevent an electrical fire?

You can shrug but here is the explanation.
