Hi 62c,
I agree it's quite sad.
When I looked at the hood the term 'cod piece' came to mind.
Regards,
Alan

I happen to like this car. A total time capsule. You don't see to many still done up that way anymore. And in some cases that's a good thing.
I would do away with the hood, put the chrome mirrors back on and slap on some period wheels like some polished slots or some turbine's.
I would not hesitate for a minute to sport that car, Hard!

Trouble is , they would have the car priced to cover all of those beautiful ( ) items that you would be throwing away because they put some value on them. Far as I know nobody charges for the worn out items that you would normally encounter. It would bring the cost down. Besides , you would have to be embarrassed to be seen bringing the car home.

Yeah, if the price is too high I can definitely see a problem with it then.

But is it actually supercharged? Would love to see engine pic.
And it didn't make me sad at all. On the contrary, I smiled at the exterior shots, thinking "Period Piece".... but the interior shots actually made me LOL!
I mean, total WTF!! Where is the "Elvis was here" sign? Hello baby, welcome to my love nest!

I am happy this thread got posted, some hate the car others dig it, no, I would not be embarrassed to own it,
The hood scoop doesn't make me think of concealed mens genitalia, but whatever floats your boat I guess.
( that door was wide open )
Someone did some really nice bodywork on it, Makes me wonder if there really is a roots style blower under there, I bet there is or at least was, I picture some old school set up with 3 skinny belts rather than one wide one, and a mag where a dizzy should be but...I think I would have rather the supercharger been all out in the air, looking cool like rat76's and yeah, slap some Cragar SS's on there....

It was supercharged. My engine compartment pics disappeared from the computer, though. I sold it several years ago--now I'm working on this; it has been sitting since 1974/5. Front and rear emblem holes filled, cove pinstriped and painted, major rear flairs, custom interior, etc.

I would be interested to get a teenagers perspective on the looks of this car. Like clothes, hang onto them long enough and it will usually come back into fashion, who knows this look on a car could do the same? Me personally, I would lose the hood because it reminds me of someone lying on their back with a thyroid problem:-)

I am 22 years old so not exactly a teenager but my opinion is keep everything just like it is but add some solid aluminum center lines or some old school looking rims and get rid of the steelies. Is that sweet machine for sale by any chance?
edit: reread this and noticed it was sold awhile ago.

Love the cobwebbing in the coves, My buddy Mike can shoot all that old weird stuff, he was working on some Lace painting the other day...
While the Teen young adult trend of Emo and hipster is a bit on the dead side they loved old school campy stuff, clothes, cars, cycles etc,
I see posts and talk to people who under 30 who are into old cars in this case vettes and 99.9% do not care at all about the numbers matching stock stuff, not saying the car in this thread is their cup o tea either, I have noticed while bone stock NCRS dream cars are still loved by their fans they are not the big majority they were years ago seems the biggest trend in c3's is some "modding" ( the new word for "custom" ) Even if the mods are small to some of us like engine hop ups radial tires, hood swap, any mod after all IS a modification from stock.

Lace painting! Wow! It has been a long time since I have seen any. I remember doing some back in the mid seventies. Last one I did was for a buddy with a Black Chevelle . We painted white SS stripes on the hood and trunk with some black lace highlights. We sprayed some flames on the side of the car and another buddy wrote Black Sabbath on the front fenders. Picked up a fews chicks in that ride back in the day.

Lace painting was a big thing back in the 70's. I had people coming into my shop asking for it on a regular basis. Could never understand it , but it paid good so I was happy to do it. But I don't see any lace here.
