Default Parking Light Socket Removal

Trying to remove front grill from a 71.

How do I disconnect the socket from the reflector?

I thought it might twist out or pry out but it seems very tight and I figured it's better to ask before I break anything!

Thanks

Hi h,
The parking lamp socket must be turned COUNTER clockwise to be released from the housing.
When re-installing the socket slips in at only one point and then must be turned to lock it in place.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks, Alan.

That's what I thought, but it is so tight I wanted to be sure before I took a pliers to it

These lamp sockets and their associated short wire harnesses can be bought from Lectric Limited for not too many dollars. I bought a pair just in case. Their short harnesses mate into the main firewall to headlamp wire harness.

Forget about damaging the wire harness/socket.....don't damage the thin cast aluminum alloy housings that the sockets mount into!!!! $$$$$$
.................
My replater guy claims these housings are not pot metal...He claims they are an aluminum alloy.

Spray some rust penetrant on the rear of that housing & socket and let it sit for a few hours, first. You may then be able to remove it by hand.

Going to the pliers is not the best idea on that old plastic socket.
