No problem. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

I have also edited my first post to include the video showing the door being operated at full speed with no PWM control.

Your conversion kit looks great 7t2vette. Can you post up the dimensions for the bracket to mount the motor onto the firewall please. I'd like to copy this setup for my 70.

I do not have a technical drawing for the bracket; I simply placed the motor in the position I wanted it to be in, and "reverse engineered" the bracket to work.

Hopefully this info can help you:

The bracket is 1/8" thick aluminum that I put a 90 degree bend into.

The horizontal part that the motor is mounted to is 4" wide, and 4 1/4" deep at the tip of the rounded end.

The vertical part that is mounted to the firewall is 4" wide, and 2 1/4" high.

Thinking about this a little more, I remembered that CWerner did this conversion using the brackets that were originally intended for the headlight conversion; see posts 11 and 12 of this thread.

If I recall correctly, either forum member Drawmain or TimberwolfFXDL produced a dimensioned drawing for those brackets; and someone else had a batch of them made up and was selling them. If you can get a copy of that drawing, it should give you a good starting point.

I would check through the original headlight conversion thread to find the info on the brackets:

I have a template PDF file for the headlight brackets for anyone that wants it, just PM me your email and I'll email you the PDF. I also have one with dimensions if desired. Richard454 had a ton of brackets premade at one time, you'd have to check with him to see if he still has them.

This is an awesome thread! My headlights pop up pretty well but I don't have a wiper door because a previous owner installed an L88 long hood on my '72 convertible.

When the time comes that I'm up for a new paint job, I plan on switching over to the big block hood, which means I will need to reinstall the wiper doors. I've been hesitant about putting the wiper doors back on because of all the threads with people looking for help. But this thread has sealed the deal. Thank you.

I did the wiper door after the headlights a while back. Ford Probe motors and linear seat motor for the wiper door. Ran power from the wiper over ride switch.

Love your approach, and thanks for the detailed description. I will attempt this conversion on my 72. Also, I was wondering if you documented and posted your headlight conversion? I am very interested in performing that conversion as well instead of rebuilding the existing system. Plus I have a big cam (low vacuum) but most of all hate all the clutter of the vacuum lines.

If you have any questions about this conversion, don't hesitate to ask. I will try to help you as much as I can.

As for the headlight conversion, I just followed the thread Richard already posted a link to, with my own twist of using 2 brackets per headlight motor. Here is a link to that thread again:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...c-new-way.html

Getting rid of all the vacuum lines and devices really helps clean up the engine compartment!

It was really great to finally meet a few of you local vette guys last night!

Thanks for showing me your ingenious electric wiper door conversion, I was truly impressed with the simplicity and efficiency of your design!!

As you saw last night, I have already converted my headlights using the miata motors, and now I cant wait to do the wiper door and finally get rid of the rest of the vacuum system clutter under the hood!!! I hope to have it done in time for next weeks big show in Stouffville; if I run into any snags I will give you a call! Thanks for selling me your spare parts so I can get this done quickly!!

I've seen your car in pics many times here on the forum, but the pics do it no justice! Fantastic job Bruce!!

Thanks again!

It was great meeting another local gear head, you are going to fit in with the rest of us just fine!!

As I already told you, don't hesitate to ask if you need help with the conversion.

Hopefully you will have it done in time for the big show on Saturday!
