Miles per year ?
Its a 75, one owner, has 46,500 on it +/- a few. 1st two years 20k, some years 0. Averages out to 116,50 give or take.
Since retirement the wife says lets take the Vette to wherever.
What have you put on your ride ?

Hopefully in '15 it will be a weekly driver with new paint!

Safety Car
I also struggle to put 2000 miles a year on my car and I feel I drive it a lot during the summer. I put the car in storage in November and pull it out of storage in April so I'm really only driving it 6 or 7 months of the year.

Hi Paul,
You could well be setting a record for the year of the cars, the distance per year, and the consistency year after year.
WELL DONE!
Regards,
Alan
I think it's really just about the ice cream!

Melting Slicks
Intrigued to know if you have to undertake any special storage procedures since the car has been used so infrequently? Are you replacing tires every 7-8 years regardless? How often is the engine started? Have you had any issues with brake caliper, transmission leaks just from sitting?
I'd have a real hard time leaving that beauty in the garage on a nice summer day.

Alan,
You have a great memory! The ice cream shop is a 100 mile (round trip) sunny Sunday afternoon drive. One of my favourites.
The driving season is only five months (May-October) so mileage is limited by that factor. A couple of years ago it seemed we had rain every Sunday. That was a 900-mile year. Last summer things were better and I hit about 1,800 miles. But on average over time it is about 1,500 miles.

I bought my 69 18 months ago and have put only 400 miles on it. I have an 07 Z06 that I bought new in 07 and it just turned 6000 miles but my wife is probably responsible for three quarters of that.
Maybe I should get out a little more.....

Drifting
The first 4 years I owned my 76, I was putting about 20,000 a year on it. It was an almost daily driver for work. Since I have been replacing and rebuilding in the last 7 years, only about 1,000 miles a year depending on the weather.

Hi BK,
My car is in a pretty unusual situation and so am I.
Since it was my only car for the first year and a half I owned it I put about 35,000 miles on it.
After that it was a toy and I put about 10,000 miles on it in the next 20 years.
I started the restoration in 1994.
The only driving I've done since was in getting it ready for Flight Judging in the fall of 2011. That was only about 100 miles. It was really to make sure everything operated as it should and there were no leaks in order to pass the Operations Section of Flight Judging.
I drove it a little after Flight Judging and it's been in my garage since.
I don't start it because I believe the consensus is that starting a car and not driving it throughly is more harmful than not starting it at all.
Right now the car is somewhat apart again because I saw a car last fall that made me realize I had to up my game somewhat.
I'm fortunate to have a wife who suggested I have have a garage in our basement for this car. So it's heated and air conditioned which has made maintaining the car at the level it was in 2011 somewhat easier but still very time consuming.
Again I realize this car is the right car for VERY few people and I'm a VERY ODD owner.
Perhaps the next owner will drive it!

Alan
