Over on the Corvette-Restoration.com "C3 General" forum, there's a guy named Vito running his thread "1972 BB Convertible in Atomic Orange Color".
Go over there and give him a shout, he's a helpful guy and there are pictures of his car on the thread.

Atomic Orange is a great color. I have seen a C3 painted Ontario Orange basecoat/clearcoat rather than the original single stage and it is stunning.
When we first saw the 72 it was a cloudy/snowy day and the paint looked really dull. My original thought was "get used to it" but later when I saw the color in the sun I understood Ontario Orange.

I love the color in person and this is my favorite shot of it (it is probably my avatar)
The only draw back is that in photos (like above) it does not show up as orange, but rather a dull red. This is a rare photo that I took at a buddy's shop that my camera phone caught some of the orange. This is more what it looks like in person in the sunlight.
I am hoping to try it with a better camera and see if the color shows up. If summer ever gets here that is.

I had originally planned on a stripe on mine and even bought the charcoal gray metalic for it. I did not get it done, but I thought the combo would have been really sharp.

Ontario Orange with a fine gold metallic in it is a stunning color. I've seen a couple of them. And in the sunlight they are terrific. Not as flashy as Atomic or Inferno orange....but still really good and an almost-stock color.

I want to say it came it out in 1999 and were painted on a few GM trucks. Then it showed back up in 2005/2006 on select GM cars such as the Aveo, Corvette, Avalanche, Silverado, etc.
I could be wrong, but that is what I am thinking. Ontario Orange has slightly less flake in it than atomic and is just a shade darker, but they are very close.
Frame off restoration on a 2005 Chevy Avalanche. I swapped the frames as the truck was flooded. The owner had sentimental value in the truck, and was well aware that he could have just bought another one and been done with it. But it is Atomic Orange.
