1978 corvette questions
Hi All,
Just joined the forum today and have a few questions if anyone can help. I am putting my corvette up for sale. Its a 1978 L48. I have all the original parts that have been replaced on the car. Parts are: like the wiper blades, plugs, master cylinder and air filter and 2 of the original tires. We have a extra radiator that is still in the box that was ordered new when the car was purchased. I am currently the 2nd owner and my uncle purchased it ordered it new. The car has close to 29k original miles. It is silver in color and black interior. He also ordered the corvette with no power windows and or air conditioning. T-tops that match color of vet. And, original paint as well. Over all the condition is very clean. There is a little wear on the seats. Any suggestions to a possible value of the car's worth?
Thanks in advance for any help. I am hoping I am posting in the right part of the forum.

To get the best estimates of value consider looking on ebay for similar cars to yours. What they are going for, and what they have sold for, will tell you better than anyone here.
To get estimates from the members here you'll have to post photos. A base model L48 with no options isn't going to net very much, but the low mileage might help bring it up a bit. Based only on what you have said, you could be looking anywhere from 5k-10k. Is there rust? If there is frame or birdcage rust the value drops significantly based on severity. Does it run? A running car is worth more than non-running. Does it need body work? Questions like this have to be answered to give you any proper idea of value.

Okay, that really helps. Getting photos of the interior and engine bay would be good too, but you may wait to see what others have to say because they may want more photos of the exterior. Save you from making more than one trip.
You have a 25th anniversary edition car, which (I think) is one of only 3 option packages in 78, the others being the L82 and the Indy Pace Car package. I'm rather surprised that the car was ordered with the 25th anniversary package, but no PW or AC. The paint looks good for its age and I don't see any body damage... if the interior looks just as good and the engine bay's in decent shape I'd say you'd be looking at 8k-13k.
Stick around. In another 2-3 hours people should start getting home from work; that's when you can expect more replies.

That looks a nice car. But, it is not necessarily a “25th Anniversary Edition”. It is just painted silver. The “25th” cars are two tone, silver over dark metallic gray. You’d need to check the trim tag for the “25th” paint code of 13U 07. But if it is original as you say, it’s not an “SA” car. Remember, all ‘78s carry the special 25th Anniversary emblems.

All 78's had 25th anniversary badging. I would say its worth around $10K from the looks of current photo. A survivor for the right person may matter. No power windows or ac even though the ac doesn't work very well deducts from value. Its is low miles a looks clean. You can ask more you will find a limited market and how quick do you want to sell. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Corvette-Silver-Anniversary-1978-chevrolet-corvette-silver-anniversary-rpo-code-b-2-z-a-/331506897219?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4d2f59d143&item=331506897219&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

Here is a S/A car trim tag. This was a parts car that I bought. Somebody spent ALOT of money painting it red at some point.
The "722" is the interior color code for red.
Do all S/A cars have the hood stripe? Or just the L82 cars?
Mine is a L82, but when it was repainted the P/O didn't do anything with the hood stripe.

Nice looking 78.
Thread got off track as OP was looking for a price. If the engine compartment is as nice as the outside, I would probably put it for sale at $12k and hope to get $10k. Appears to be a nice driver & perfect for some to jump in & start using but a non ac, l48, auto is not up there on the must have.
As an example, a silver anniv paint. This one has had trouble selling and I think his price is below what he paid https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...niversary.html.
