couple of months back I fixed the door lock assembly on the driver's door. the pressed in latch pin in the handle bracket had opened up and the pin fell out (after 35 years). so I couldn't open the door from the outside. opening from the inside only was okay. now the handle assembly is useless and the inside handle won't work. I can see the latch on the pin from the inside. anyone know how to get the latch to let go of the pin? thanks

Yep, had the same thing happen to my sons 1975 and this was exactly how we got the door opened.

If you have a door lockout...it takes a little practice and skill with the screwdriver trick. If one door is locked out, open the other door from the body, lock it, and then practice unlocking that door with the screwdriver. Once you've got down pat unlocking your "open door," then go after the door locked to the body.
