Default Need help, Hood Release Cable with two possible attachment holes

Hey everyone greetings from Gilroy, CA with typical Newbie issues
Last week I just traded my 99 Suburban for a 1975 Corvette Stingray with a couple issues that need to be resolved before I can feel comfortable driving it on the road.

The Hood release cable isn't there, I purchased a replacement cable however I need to see how it attaches and what hole it goes thru the firewall. I have the mounting bracket located lower left corner of dash I see a grommet that is near where I assume the wire will come out of, but on the hood lock mechanism I see two possible holes and can't see how to use both or just one?

The car was delivered with the both hood latches covered with duct tape so it wouldn't lock but I need to be able to open and close it normally. I just received my replacement hood lock cable with cable "stopper"

thanks,
Ralph
