Default Fuel tank size

I need to replace the fuel tank on my '69. My car has a build date of Dec. 1969 making it one of the last '69 built. The book says that they hold 20 gallons but, my tank has the long indention on the side so it looks like the tank used on the 1970 model that holds 24 gallons. has anyone else run into this?

Hi h,
I believe all original tanks installed from 68-72 were the same basic tank with just changes in the number and placement of nipples for the return line and vapor control line if used.
20 gal. capacity for all as Revi said.
Regards,
Alan

There are two different style tanks for a 1970. A Federal tank that just has hose nipples on the passenger side and a California tank that has hose nipples on both the drivers side(for the Evaporative Emission Control (EEC)) & the passenger side.

You need this one http://www.gastanks.com/Aug-1969-70-...ctinfo/GM-33E/
